Focus T25 Overview

Focus T25 approaches fitness from a different perspective than Insanity. T25 was developed for people in all walks of fitness capabilities. This program is meant to appeal to a much more broad audience…hence the 25 minute workout time. In addition to the obvious workout time reduction from that of its predecessor, T25 also shows the “modified” versions of every single exercise for those who are unable to do the normal versions. This is one of the reasons I am so excited about the release of T25, is because so many people have never tried a Shaun T workout program because of the intensity levels…well now you can complete a Shaun T workout with less intensity and in a shorter amount of time.

T25 Workout PhasesThe program duration is 70 days (10 weeks) and is based on a 5 day on, 2 day off routine where one of your days off is for weigh in and measurements and the next day off is for stretching. The first phase called the ALPHA PHASE is 5 weeks long and is going to focus on core strength and stability. The next phase: BETA PHASE is going to build upon that foundation of core strength and toss in some confusion during your workouts by working out completely rested muscle groups, then switching back and blasting what you already worked out again.

There is an optional GAMMA PHASE that you can purchase separately which is an additional 4 week phase that focuses on resistance training. This is the only phase in which any equipment would be required. A decent set of resistance bands or free weights is more than enough. Shaun T said that you should not need more than 20lbs of resistance for any of these moves.

With each week you also have the option of completing a “double day” on your last workout of the week. You will complete 2 full 25 minute workouts on this day. I recommend bumping up your calorie intake by a few hundred on this day if you decide to go for a “double day”

As far as what moves you are going to see in T25, a lot of people are wondering if its just moves from Insanity. The answer is yes and no… While you will see plenty of moves from Insanity, you will also see moves from The Asylum and Asylum Vol. 2. You are also going to be introduced to some new moves as well. So this is definitely NOT just a bunch of exercises you are already used to or have already seen.

The T25 Nutrition Plan is surprisingly simple! They only provide you with 2 levels of calorie intake (1200 per day/1600 per day). Whichever level you choose is determined by a 4 question quiz found in the nutrition guide. You will also find a helpful 5 day “fast track” meal plan to get you started right as well as 25 solid recipes to choose from.

I still recommend calculating your calories like you would with the P90X nutrition plan and determining what the best calorie deficit would be to match your goals. You can find out all that info in the Nutriton Zone.

Overall this program is top notch and its going to revolutionize the way people see fitness. Most people could never imagine getting in a hardcore workout in just 25 minutes, but Shaun T has developed a program that delivers 1 hour per day results in just a quarter of the time!

Insanity Overview

insanity overviewInsanity is a full body workout program that incorporates strength training and jump training, but does so for a much longer period of time than a T25 workout. That isn’t to say the Insanity is better, but I would say that if you are looking to increase your cardiovascular endurance and performance, then this is going to be your #1 choice unless you want to use T25 to work your way up to this.

Whats really attractive about the program aside from the incredible results you will get, is that the program requires absolutely no equipment whatsoever…You can simply pack around your DVD set rather than your bands, dumbbells, and pullup bar. This is the program I would recommend to those who travel a lot and find themselves looking for something a little more effective that the hotel gym’s outdated stairmasters and treadmills.

One other aspect that makes Insanity very appealing is that the program only lasts for 60 days unlike T25 which lasts 70 days or 98 days including the Gamma Phase. It doesnt seem like that big of a difference, but either way it will take an incredible amount of dedication and support in order to complete either of them. But you can get all the motivation and support when you make me your free coach by Joining RIPPEDCLUB.

And, if you love cardio, then this will most likely be the most difficult set of cardio workouts you will ever do. Its weird though because despite the difficulty and the blood in your lungs throughout the workouts (kidding…but seriously, lol), by the time you finish you feel like a million bucks and you cant wait for the next workout. People will question your sanity…And they should.

One caution I have though is that if you are just now getting back into working out after taking a few decades off, dont start off with Insanity. You can, but you will most likely need to modify many of the exercises in order to compensate for your current limited physical abilities. This program is incredibly demanding physically. Another caution is that this program has a single purpose…Shed fat and get super lean. If you are looking to gain some size, then this program is not for you. P90X would be a better choice their or something like Body Beast would be even better.
