AminNO Energy Review

For the past 45 days I have been using a pre workout supplent called AmiNO Energy by Optimum Nutrition and thought it only appropriate that I now do an AmiNO Energy Review. The reason I chose this pre workout drink was because it had gotten some great reviews and ON’s products are always high quality and produce superior results. I actually learned about AmiNO Energy from a bodybuilding.com Body Space model named Kelechi Opara. He is in phenomenal shape and he highly recommended it. I always want to give you guys the best info, so instead of just taking his word for it, I needed to try it for myself.

AmiNO Energy Ingredients – AmiNO Energy Review

I really like the AmiNO Energy ingredients for the most part. The BCAA’s (Branched Chain Amino Acids) are great for building muscle and muscle recovery. They used Taurine which acts similar to creatine in that it helps to volumize the muscle cells with water which allow better protein synthesis. They also include caffeine from green tea which I really like. And the fact that you can choose from 2 scoops up to 6 really gives you some flexibility if you are more or less sensitive to caffeine. I like the wider range of servings (intensity) with this product vs other product that only allow 1 or 2 servings. Another great ingredient in AmiNO Energy is Beta-Alanine and L-Arginine which help to give you that Nitric Oxide Pump that everyone loves. The only downfall to this product in my opinion is the artificial sweeteners. Its hard to get away from them with nutritional supplements and especially pre workouts, but I like to avoid them when I can. So if you are an artificial sweetener nazi…this product probably isnt for you. Otherwise, the ingredients are top notch.

Taste/Mix

If you have taken any type of Amino acid supplement, then you know that quality taste is not something that goes hand in hand with BCAA’s. But Optimum Nutrition has done a great job with the taste of AmiNO Energy! I have been using the grape flavor and I would compare the grapeness to that of a grape jolly rancher with a little kick at the back and sides of the tongue. There are other flavors available as well that I have tried which are all equally tasty: Watermelon, Orange, and Blue Raspberry are the others I have tried.

Effectiveness

To measure the effectiveness of this product, I can only compare it to a few other products so my rating will be based on the claims of the manufacturer which are:

  • Essential Amino Acid Delivery
  • Nitric Oxide Production
  • Muscle Recovery Acceleration
  • Improved Energy and Focus

Essential Amino Acid Delivery: I have no doubt that this product does a superb job of delivering the EAA’s to the muscles with the aid of the Taurine to help the muscles absorb these nutrients.

Nitric Oxide Production: As for the pump that AmiNO Energy gives you; its good. Not the best, but its good. I have experienced much more intense Nitric Oxide pumps from other products like USP Labs: Yok3d. I do like the fact that its very versatile though. That pump allows me to push through a few more reps than I normally would and the pump also helps with my endurance during cardio workouts.

Muscle Recovery Acceleration: Even when using this when I switched from P90X2 Phase-1 to Phase-2, my soreness was minimal. Granted I am also taking the P90X Results & Recovery Formula, but I have noticed a difference in the intensity of the soreness. It is much  less!

Improved Energy and Focus: Top notch here! The energy kick is extremely noticeable and the best part is that I can take AmiNO Energy 15 minutes before my workout and FEEL it kick in during my warm-up. So the energy delivery is very quick and you can feel your heart rate rise which I like. Its like flipping a switch. I am generally focused during my workouts anyway, so this is a little more difficult to rate. I do feel that it has increased my ability to push myself harder which I guess you could call focus.

So would I recommend AmiNO Energy?

Overall this is a high quality product that is priced appropriately. You can probably get the best deal on bodybuilding.com. I love love love the fact that I can take this 15 minutes before my workout. I get up at 4:30am, so the pre workouts that require you to take them 2-3 hours prior to exercise were just out of the question for me. It does what it says and it delivers visible results which I really like. Its difficult for me to keep taking a supplement if I cant see the physical results. But since taking AmiNO Energy, I have seen performance gains as well as size gains, so would I recommend AmiNO Energy? The answer is YES!!!
