My 5 Keys to Success

Here is a list of the 5 keys to my success starting with the most effective first.  This is a very important list to create for any person who wants to transform their body and make a positive change for both them self and the people who love them.  If you have not read my post What’s Your Why, I strongly suggest you read it and follow through.  You will BLAST towards and through your goals when you have this kind of motivation!!!

#1) My Faith – I have had a wonderful relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for about 6 years as of me writing this (wow…it goes so fast!) And for those first 5.5 years I was not taking care of the body God had blessed me with.  In my free time I lead a bible study of college students and tought them the importance of good stewardship, usually in regards to finances.  One day I realized that I should be a good steward of ALL things God has given me; my family, friends, finances, and also very important…myself!  I had neglected my health for so long and something needed to change.  That’s when I decided to COMMIT 100% to the P90X workouts and nutrition.  My results speak for themself after losing over 50 pounds and more than 20% body fat!  I could not have done this without the encouragement and strength provided to me by God’s Holy Spirit dwelling inside me.  I am so thankful that the Lord has givin me the ability to do amazing things for my health!

#2) My Family – At first my wife was not too happy about me dedicating myself to this new and difficult lifestyle, lol.  I told her that I would workout before everyone woke up, as to not take any time away from family, but there was still the nutrition part.  For six years my wife was use to cooking cream based pasta dishes and I think our main food groups were butter, cheese, and butter….There were some frusterating moments there for a while where I wouldn’t eat the same things she would, and she didn’t want to cook separate for me, so needless to say, there was tension.  It took some time, but once my wife began seeing the amazing changes that were happening because of my healthy eating habits, she started to cook more inline with the P90X nutrition plan.  Now…my wife does P90X with me!  She eats healthy like me and our kids eat healthy too!  It is so awsome to have a family that supports your healthy lifestyle choices.  It might be difficult at first, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.  It has been a huge encouragement to me to have a wife that is on board with staying fit and healthy, and even better, I get to spend more time with her!

#3) My Coach – Everyone needs that little extra boost to get them motivated beyond whatever personal motivation they can muster up themself.  That is exactly what my coach did for me!  I wanted a coach who displayed a committment to the program, integrity, discipline, and a passion for change!  I also wanted a coach who was an expert when it came to the workouts, nutrition and supplements.  I needed someone that I knew would hold me accountable to my goals (I suggest everyone tell their coach their goals).  I think it is safe to say that I followed in my coaches footsteps and got amazing results and you too should follow in someones footsteps who has gone before you.  If that person is me…AWSOME!!!

#4) My Nutrition – This might sound a little depressing to some but, 80% of your results are forged in the kitchen!  Beachbody and their team of EXPERT nutrition staff have put together some amazing nutrition plans that match the needs of every workout program.  They have invested a lot of time and money into the research and development of a plan that will take your health to amazing levels.  For me…I EAT CLEAN.  No junk, no nasty stuff, just good healthy fuel!  I NEVER have a cheat meal…NEVER!  It can take up to 2-3 days of clean eating for your body to get back to where it was before the cheat meal.  Its just not worth it!  Before p90x, I ate whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, and beleive me it showed.  I felt like crap because I was eating like crap.  Once I started following the P90X Nutrition Guide, that fat literally just melted away!  I feel awsome and my results reflect why I feel so great.  I wanted to create a simple way for people to see what I ate on a daily basis, so I created My 1900 Calorie Diet, which I used during the Fat Shredder phase of the P90X nutrition plan.  I hope it can show you just how simple healthy eating can be.

#5) My Workouts – P90X rocked my world to the core!  There was blood, sweat, tears and some yelling, lol.  I BRING IT every single day without excuse.  If one of my kids keeps me up late…I BRING IT.  If I work 17hrs until 2am…I wake up at 5:30 and BRING IT.  If I am treveling…I BRING IT in the hotel room.  NO EXCUSES!  It is absolutely imperative that you decide that you are not going to let any obstacle get you off track!  You loose momentum and find yourself back where you dont want to be.  Keep the snowball rolling down the hill by PUSHING PLAY EVERDAY just like I do!  One of the coolest parts about my transformation is that it was forged in my family room.  Usually when people see a six pack, they assume that person is a gym rat.  NOT ME!  Not a single moment was spent in the gym.  I did it all from my own home!  And on top of that…I only spend about an hour a day working out.  Now tell my you cant sacrifice 1 hour of TV per day to change your entire life…
