Can I Do P90X?

I get this question so often!  Its inevitable that people, once they see the fat melting away from your body, will become curious as to what it is you are doing different than them.  Everyone has tried to diet and when we see success, our interest is sparked.  When people ask me how I have lost so much weight and gotten in such great shape, I tell them proudly…P90X

A lot of people know exactly what program I am talking about and instantly become disinterested, but there are a few who ask, “Do you think I could do P90X?”  I have also had people with previous injuries that ask, “Could I do what you are doing even though I have this old knee injury?”  The answer to all of the above is a resounding YES!

“Are you kidding me!!!”  No, I’m not kidding.  “I’ve seen the infomercials!  I have never done a pull-up in my life!”  I could only do one when I started.  The key to success in the P90X program isn’t based on whether or not you kept up with the folks in the video, its based on how hard you push yourself.  When I started P90X, I could only do 1 pull-up…dont laugh 🙂  Now I can do 6 sets of 10-15 pull-ups. 

Its all about MODIFICATION.  If you modify the exercise so that you are still struggling, but able to complete the move, that is what counts and that is what will make you stronger!  Here is an example.  Back when I could only do 1 pull-up, I would put a step stool under me and use my legs to push me up.  I would try and use my legs as little as possible so that I was working the right muscle group, but I’ll be honest…my legs got tired.  Push-ups…For some, just the thought of attempting these makes your chest hurt, but if you modify the move by doing them on your knees, you still get the burn.  And next time you will come back stronger!  Who knows!  Maybe someday you might even be able to keep up with the folks in the video.

Dont sell yourself short on fitness.  A lot of people quit way too soon, saying “uuuhhh, thats gunna hurt to much”, or even worse they never try at all.  See what your made of!!!  You might even surprise yourself.  One of the greatest acheivements that P90X offers is helping you conquer what you couldn’t do.  I want you to be saying, I can do that!  I want you to have the sense of accomplishment that has brought about a lifestyle change for me.  This isn’t some fad, this is real.  I am going to keep pressing play every day, and I hope you can make that same choice!  If you want to read up a little more on P90x, CLICK HERE for the details.
